My painting final. This is 4ft x 4ft-ish, and took about a month to do.
My thoughts: I am interested in work that makes really horrible things look beautiful. So I wanted to depict this violent event in a way that is very pretty, hense the absurdly pink sky and purple clouds that would never exist in real life. Also, although there is something terrible happening up above, the people below are unaffected. Even though you know people are dying here, it's just one part of the whole world, and it will ultimately be forgotten in time.
If you don't buy any of that, then this is just about 9/11. I was very close to where Flight 93 chrashed, so this is probably where this image was born originally.

I looked through the Emotion Legend, and I couldnt find anything appropriate...
I think its oddly appropriate how my browser cant show the entire image at the same time,
I mean, I can view it, but as long as its in this window, I cant see the airplane in relation to the
people below.
oh geez, this is fantastic!! I think you really managed to capture depth with that one cloud placed below the horizon...more than I've ever managed to pull off! Landscapes scare the crap out of me...congratulations for doing one so, so well with one!

Plane disasters has "something".
Very good the idea of standing out the aesthetics of somethng terrible. Its like Edward Gorey, making deppresing situations with chilndren. Contrast is good. And your painting is charged with a little bit of critique.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
